Word of the Year
I always encourage people to choose a word or phrase that embodies what they're wanting to call in for the next year and then keep that word or phrase top of mind throughout the year to maintain focus.

Here we are just days away from 2025! Do you choose a word or phrase of the year for yourself? I always encourage people to choose one that embodies what they're wanting to call in for the next year and then keep that word or phrase top of mind throughout the year to maintain focus.

Why should you choose a word of the year?

Words carry energy and intention - they matter! It's why we use affirmations and mantras. It's why journaling is such a powerful tool for our growth and healing. It's why we practice positive self-talk and literally speak our desires into existence. When we choose a word or phrase of the year, we are literally giving our intention and energy into that word or phrase so that when we think it, speak it, or use it, we are pulling all of that energy and intention up and out of us. The universe feels that energy and intention and does its magical manifestation thing to deliver our desires to us faster.

How should you choose a word of the year?

First, you want to know what you want for yourself in the coming year. Is it a new job? A new relationship? A healthier body? Better mental health? It's probably a lot of things, right? Once you have your goals in mind, I want you to think of the energy or "vibe" that you feel will help manifest all of it. Or the vibe you want to bring into existence surrounding these things you're wanting. Got it? OK, now start playing around with some words that represent these goals and this energy you want to summon. It could be a phrase as well. It could be the title of your favorite book or movie or poem. You can choose whatever resonates the most with you. I recommend keeping it short and sweet, though.

Don't overcomplicate it like I did...

For 2024 I went overboard and it didn't work out. Hey, I will admit when I muck it up!! I was going to choose "Purposeful Action" but that felt so ho hum and clinical to me (it's not, it's a perfectly fine phrase to choose!!) so I created this whole list of words under an umbrella of Transmutation and I called them "chapters" in the book of my life I was writing for 2024. Welp.... the whole word of the year idea went right out of my head because I stacked it with too much stuff. So, keep it SIMPLE.

What's my word for 2025?

A lot of my 2024 was spent caring for the needs of others. That goes for most moms, and most humans, but this year there were just some challenges that I felt I needed to give my whole attention to. And, in the midst of things, I lost myself a little bit. I stepped back from doing the things that keep me balanced and flowing. It happens to the best of us, even coaches. All of this happened willingly and I was fully self-aware. It was just not a year for me and that's OK. The energy I am calling in for 2025 is going to remedy that. I already wrote about the things I am focusing on in 2025 in a previous blog post, and my word for the year is an embodiment of the energy I am bringing into those focuses.

My word for 2025 is:

RECLAIM

I am taking back the reins on my life and reclaiming my energy, time, focus, and power. Pretty excited about it.
