Using food to heal and support the gut microbiome is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health and wellness.
Quick Facts about your microbiome:
There are more bacteria cells in and on your body than there are human cells – 10:1!
All these bacteria cells, or microbes, weigh as much as your brain
Prebiotics feed the good microbes, junk feeds the bad ones
If the bad ones outweigh the good ones, that’s when inflammation, leaky gut, and autoimmune diseases occur
Because the health of your gut microbiome is so important, I want to share one of my favorite happy gut recipes – Spicy Sausage and Kale Soup.
The collagen in the bone broth helps seal and heal your gut lining, which is CRUCIAL.
Kale and carrots are high in fiber, which helps move bad stuff out of the body but also feeds the good bacteria
Garlic and onion contain prebiotics that feed the good bacteria so they can flourish. Garlic and onion are also known to help eliminate bad bacteria.
The spicy element in the sausage also helps to reduce bad bacteria as well as inflammation.
Altogether, this soup packs a whole lot of gut health goodness in one recipe. And it’s quite delicious!
